Produced from 1991 to 2017, the Harley Dyna has become a loved model family for its versatility. It was positioned as the “performance” counterpart to the other Big Twins it shares power plants with. The lightweight frame combined with Big Twin power of the EVO and Twin Cam provided a fun platform for thrill seeking riders. The Dyna was born out the love for the FXR, which came before it. Its frame is greatly inspired from the FXR, but was far easier to mass produce. This resulted in a lovable platform that spawned several amazing models, some of which now exist under the Softail model group. <br><br> Dyna motorcycles have a few distinctive features that make them unique and stand out from the other bikes in HD’s lineup. The Dyna frame is built from tubular steel and proved to be far stiffer than the outgoing FXR frame. This, combined with the coil-over shocks in the back, allow it to be more agile than the Softail line. The rubber mounted engine provides a smooth ride at highway speeds, yet still keeps the Harley character at idle and low speeds. All Dynas except for the Switchback were outfitted with pegs, which also allows for more aggressive riding. The Super Glide, Street Bob, Low Rider, Wide Glide Switchback and Fat Bob all have garnered a strong following of their own over the years. <br><br> The Dyna has long been revered for its ability to be modified. It is a perfect platform for owners to modify and customize to fit many different needs and styles. With the large aftermarket offerings, you can make your Dyna into anything you want by yourself. Add luggage, highway bars and a sissy bar and you have a competent touring bike. Upgrade your shocks, do a stage 1 and add a bullet fairing for a sporty cruiser.
